{"id":674,"date":"2022-02-03T23:54:26","date_gmt":"2022-02-03T23:54:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rfch.bvs.hn\/?p=674"},"modified":"2022-02-08T00:58:48","modified_gmt":"2022-02-08T00:58:48","slug":"vulnerabilidad-del-continente-americano-a-enfermedades-emergentes-y-re-emergentes-el-ejemplo-del-zika","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rfch.bvs.hn\/?p=674","title":{"rendered":"Vulnerabilidad del Continente Americano a enfermedades emergentes y re-emergentes: El ejemplo del Zika"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Las profundas desigualdades econ\u00f3micas, sociales y ambientales que caracterizan al continente americano, lo convierten en medio de cultivo propicio para la diseminaci\u00f3n de enfermedades infecciosas, como qued\u00f3 demostrado con la introducci\u00f3n reciente de dos virus: chikungunya en 2014 y zika en 2015. Desde el a\u00f1o 2015 hasta el 22 de marzo del 2016, la Organizaci\u00f3n Panamericana de la Salud \u2013 Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial para la Salud (OPS-OMS) report\u00f3 185,027 casos sospechosos acumulados de zika. Honduras ocupa el primer lugar de casos sospechosos en la regi\u00f3n centroamericana con 15,849 casos reportados. Los estudios gen\u00e9ticos del virus no son concluyentes respecto a la asociaci\u00f3n entre procesos de recombinaci\u00f3n y su relaci\u00f3n con cambios en la virulencia, eficiencia en la replicaci\u00f3n y transmisi\u00f3n vectorial, tropismo de hospedero y cambios en la estructura antig\u00e9nica, como se ha descrito en otros flavivirus. El diagn\u00f3stico laboratorial y diferencial con otros flavivirus como dengue y chikungunya es crucial, ya que infecciones concurrentes se asocian con complicaciones neurol\u00f3gicas y autoinmunes. Existe una creciente asociaci\u00f3n ecol\u00f3gica y etiol\u00f3gica consistente, entre infecci\u00f3n por virus del zika, S\u00edndrome de Guillan Barre y malformaciones cong\u00e9nitas. La microcefalia, es el signo que m\u00e1s ha llamado la atenci\u00f3n de la comunidad cient\u00edfica, sin embargo, \u00e9sta podr\u00eda ser la forma m\u00e1s severa de afectaci\u00f3n fetal que se ha detectado y posiblemente solo representa la punta del iceberg de un problema neurol\u00f3gico de salud p\u00fablica mayor. La escasa capacidad de algunos pa\u00edses del continente americano para implementar nacionalmente las recomendaciones emitidas por los Centros de Control de Enfermedades y de la Organizaci\u00f3n Panamericana y Mundial para la Salud, sumado a que los sistemas de salud, con pocas excepciones, se encuentran fragmentados, atomizados y con poco liderazgo intersectorial para el abordaje integral de estos problemas, convierten a nuestro continente en un para\u00edso vulnerable, a \u00e9stas y otras enfermedades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex
